Governance Principles

BSAPE is committed to good governance across all its activities. Our Board operates in accordance with the principles of openness, integrity, and accountability. Decisions on professional accreditation are made through structured processes that are independent of commercial considerations.

Transparency

We publish our policies, frameworks, and decision-making processes openly.

Independence

Our accreditation decisions are made free from commercial or political influence.

Accountability

We hold ourselves to the same standards we expect of accredited professionals.

Inclusivity

Our governance reflects the diversity of the engineering profession we serve.

Board of Directors

The BSAPE Board of Directors is responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and oversight of the organisation. Board members serve in a voluntary capacity and are drawn from a wide range of engineering disciplines and professional backgrounds.

Committees

The Board is supported by four standing committees, each responsible for a specific area of governance. Committees include independent professional members in addition to Board directors.

Annual General Meeting

BSAPE holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year at which the Board presents a report on the organisation's activities and financial position. Accredited members and approved training providers are invited to attend and may submit questions in advance.

Notices of the AGM, together with supporting papers, are circulated to all stakeholders no fewer than 21 days before the meeting. Minutes of previous AGMs are available upon request.

Conflicts of Interest

All Board members and committee members are required to declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest. A register of interests is maintained and reviewed annually. Where a conflict arises in relation to a specific decision, the relevant individual withdraws from that discussion and any associated vote.
